Spaces that promote performance & health

Office design for companies

Many companies invest in technology, processes and benefits – but underestimate the biggest influencing factor in everyday work: space.

Work environments constantly impact concentration, stress levels, communication, and performance. If spaces don't support this, it drains energy, motivation, and health.

This is precisely where my office space consulting comes in.

Spaces are a key to success: they increase focus, improve collaboration, and enable better results.

Office & workplace design – consulting for companies (also in Cologne and surrounding areas)

What this is really about

Office design is more than just furniture and colors.

The goal is to design workspaces that:

  • Promote focus instead of distraction

  • Reduce stress instead of increasing it

  • Facilitate collaboration

  • Support recovery and performance

This consulting approach combines office design with a deep understanding of how people function in their daily work environment.

Who would benefit from this consultation?

This form of office space consultation is aimed at companies that:

  • Notice that your office “isn't working properly.”

  • Want to improve productivity and well-being

  • Need guidance after renovations or growth

  • Want to ensure long-term health and performance

What companies get out of it

This office design consultation is aimed at companies that:

  • Clearer workflows

  • Improved concentration and less sensory overload

  • Noticeably greater team well-being

  • Spaces that support employees – not hinder them

What makes this consultation special

To be perfectly honest, my expertise lies in psycho- and neuroarchitecture. As an interior designer, I not only understand how to make spaces more beautiful and harmonious, but I also know the impact on people, their behavior, and work processes.

If the space isn't right, even great beliefs and motivation won't help in the long run!

I am Katia Steilemann

Preventologist, Mental-Coach, Interior Designer

I combine expertise in prevention, mental coaching, spatial design, and neuro- and psycho-architecture with many years of practical experience.

Previously, I worked in human resources at DAX-listed companies and witnessed daily how managers desperately try to motivate their employees, increase their performance, and attract top talent. They all want to be successful, but neglect a crucial success factor: their offices.

In my consultations and presentations, I demonstrate how our workspace influences us daily, its impact on our motivation, health, and success, and how to transform it into a place of power without major renovations.

Frequently Asked Questions about Office Design (FAQs)

Why do employees often feel tired or stressed in the office?

Workspaces constantly affect our nervous system. Noise, light, colors, cramped conditions, or a lack of quiet spaces unconsciously increase stress and fatigue. If the office doesn't provide support, it drains energy daily – even for motivated teams.

How does office design affect productivity?

The design of an office directly influences concentration, focus, and collaboration. Poorly designed layouts or sensory overload lead more quickly to errors, distractions, and mental exhaustion. Well-designed workspaces support clear thinking and efficient work.

What makes an office "healthy"?

A healthy office considers more than just ergonomics. It also includes factors such as lighting, acoustics, spatial structure, opportunities for movement, and zones for focus, collaboration, and relaxation. The goal is an environment that promotes health, performance, and well-being.

When is consulting on office design worthwhile?

Consulting is particularly helpful in the following situations:

  • High employee turnover or frequent sick days

  • Concentration problems within the team After growth, relocation, or renovation

  • The desire for increased productivity and job satisfaction

Often, it turns out that the problem isn't the people – it's the space.

Is spatial planning or office design only useful in new construction or renovation projects?

No. Even without major structural changes, the impact of an office can be significantly improved. Often, targeted adjustments to structure, art, use, or zoning are enough to achieve noticeable changes.

What is the difference between office planning and space consulting?

Office planning usually focuses on space, furniture, and functions. Space consulting goes a step further and considers how spaces affect people – their behavior, mood, stress levels, and collaboration. Both approaches can complement each other effectively.

Can smart office design reduce stress and sick leave?

Yes. Studies and practical experience show that supportive work environments can reduce stress and promote regeneration. This has a positive effect on motivation, health, and long-term performance.

Für welche Unternehmen ist diese Art der Büro-RaumBeratung geeignet?

For small teams as well as larger companies – especially where knowledge work, focus, communication, and mental strain play a role. And don't forget working from home!

How does a consultation for office and workspaces work?

It typically begins with an analysis of the current spaces and working methods. Based on this, concrete recommendations are developed that are geared towards the needs of the people and the goals of the company.

Client example: Trauma therapy practice

Andreas von Knobelsdorff (knobelsdorff-therapie.de) is a trauma therapist moving to a new practice. He lives far away and needs online support, from finding the right style to buying furniture. He has opted for a complete 3D consultation.

Within 4 weeks we completed the project and Andreas was able to buy all the furniture and furnishings in time and receive his clients in the new practice as planned.
